Safety in Action @ The Great Shake Out

Today, all Cambrian Schools participated in the Great California Shake Out as one of several drills this year, joining millions of people worldwide for an earthquake drill at 10:19 a.m. on October 19. For some of the Fammatre kinder and TK students pictured here, it was their first-ever earthquake drill, and they did a great job!

Throughout the year, Cambrian School District students and staff participate in drills designed to simulate a number of emergency situations, such as a fire, earthquake, or campus intruder. These drills ensure that students are able to remain calm and follow instructions in the event of an emergency, and that the lines of staff communication are clear. If parents/guardians happen to be on campus in the middle of a drill, they will be asked to participate as a community member according to the situation we are practicing for; for example, you may be asked to briefly shelter in place or evacuate the building. It is great for our students to see parent/community participation firsthand, because it adds to the realism of the drill and demonstrates that safety is a community-wide priority. We thank you in advance for your assistance!
