Steindorf Fourth Graders partnered with the Wildlife Associates and, through sustained inquiry, hands-on experiences, and in-depth research, have learned about wind turbines and their harmful effects on local birds of prey. Today they presented their final bird-friendly wind turbine prototypes to the community and their mentors from the Wildlife Associates. Suggestions included turbines with horizontal blades, lights, and even turbines designed to look like giant purple flowers(purple repels insects, a bird food source)! Congratulations to the students and thanks to the Wildlife Associates for making this possible! See more pictures on our Facebook page.
