GLAD INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH STRONG FOUNDATION FOR LANGUAGE ACQUISITION AND LITERACY

GLAD (Guided Language Acquisition Design) is a research-based approach to teaching language arts and literacy through content to ensure all learners can access curriculum at their individual level.  Over the past two years our teachers have been trained in GLAD strategies.  Each school site has a teacher leader called a “Gladiator” that supports their colleagues with the integration of GLAD strategies in the classroom.  One of our Gladiators from Fammatre Elementary School, fourth grade teacher Amy O'Hehir, was leading her students through a GLAD a chant about the continents and oceans last week.  If you have heard your child singing content songs you are hearing GLAD in action.  Cambrian is “glad” to have GLAD in all of our classrooms to support student learning.  Read more
