School Consolidation Update & Next Steps
Board Decision – February 26, 2026
On February 26, 2026, the Cambrian School District Board of Trustees approved the closure of Sartorette Elementary School, effective at the end of the 2025–26 school year.
This decision followed a comprehensive and transparent process that included community input, detailed data analysis, and careful consideration of the District’s declining enrollment and long-term financial sustainability.
The goal of this decision is to ensure that the District can continue to provide strong, stable educational programs for all students now and in the future.
Schools Impacted
- Sartorette Elementary School will close at the end of the 2025–26 school year
- Students will transition primarily to:
- Fammatre Elementary School
- Farnham Elementary School
- Bagby Elementary School
These schools have available classroom space and will be prepared to welcome Sartorette students and families.
How the Decision Was Made
The Board’s decision was based on a structured and data-driven process:
- A School Consolidation Committee was formed in November 2025
- The committee reviewed:
- Enrollment trends and projections
- Financial conditions
- Educational program impacts
- Facility conditions and capacity
- Community and student impacts
- Multiple public meetings were held to ensure transparency and community engagement
- The committee recommended Sartorette for consolidation based on this analysis
