Cambrian TK Is Growing!
We are pleased to share some very exciting news about the future of Cambrian's Transitional Kindergarten program. Due to popular demand, Bagby and Farnham will both house their own TK classes starting in 2017-18, allowing more families to take advantage of early learning at their home school. This move will help keep siblings together, cut down on family commute times, and give students an early introduction to the school communities where they will spend much of their childhood. If you have an eligible child and would like to take advantage of our expanding program, we are still accepting TK students for enrollment! More information and all enrollment forms can be found here.
Our quarterly newsletter includes features about district-wide initiatives and accolades, news about what's coming in 2017-18, and more!
New CDE Data Dashboard Launched -- Find CSD Student Data Quickly and Easily
California is field testing a new website designed to help communities across the state access important information about K–12 districts and schools – including ours. Called the California School Dashboard (Coming March 2017), the site features easy-to-read reports on multiple measures of school success, including test scores, graduation rates, English learning progress and suspension rates.
As you may know, the majority of our schools are structured as “dependent charter schools,” which allows us to welcome students from throughout our county, not just our district boundaries. The Dashboard currently lists all charter schools as separate entities, whether they are affiliated with a district or not. As a result, a search in the Dashboard for “Cambrian School District” only brings up information for Bagby Elementary. To see other school site information, simply use the search bar and enter the name of the site. (Note also that there is no data for Steindorf, as the school is in its first year of operation).
Learn More About Our New Math Curricula
We're pleased to announce that the Board has officially approved the adoption of the new math curricula recommended by staff and the curriculum committee, Eureka Math (TK-5) and College prep Math (6-8). Parent resources can be found below in anticipation of a full roll-out in Fall 2017:
On May 8, 2017, the Board officially adopted the Puberty/Sexual Health curriculum recommended by staff for grades 5 and 7. The link above contains information about the new curriculum, the California Healthy Youth Act, our adoption process, an archive of previous communications about the curriculum, and a wealth of outside resources for families. Thank you to the many staff and families who served as an invaluable part of the adoption process.
