Accelerated Reader Program also know as AR is one part of our reading program for 2nd-5th graders. Students are challenged to read as many books at their reading level during the school year. Once a book is completed, your child will take a quiz and earn points to win certificates and prizes. There is a bulletin board in the cafeteria to show their progress.
After-School Enrichment Program is usually on Wednesdays, our early release day, and includes opportunities for students such as Cartooning, Cooking, Origami, Chess and Mad Science. There are several sessions throughout the year.
Art Vista Program is a parent-supported year round program that exposes and teaches art to all grade levels. Students work with a variety of media and themes. An art show that displays some of each child’s best work takes place during Open House. Volunteers are an essential part of this program.
eScrip Log on to www.escrip.com and set up an account for yourself. Register your credit cards. You will need Fammatre's ID number: 138334659, and you do have to re-register your cards every year. After registration, you shop as you normally do at places like Lucky's and Lunardis, and a small portion of each purchase is automatically routed back to Fammatre.
Facebook We have grade level Facebook pages and a HSC Facebook page. Join them for specific information about the HSC or your grade level. These pages are run by parents and are all private. Simply ask to join the appropriate group for your child.
Family Dinner Nights Patrons who visit (for either dine-in or take out) and identify themselves, as Fammatre families will have a portion of their bill donated to the school. These are fun, community events! Please watch for announcements about upcoming Family Dinner Nights.
Fammatre Affiliates Become a member of any of our affiliate programs and help earn cash back for Fammatre. These year-round programs include box tops, Amazon, Sports Basement, and eScrip.
Fammatre Home and School Club The HSC is Fammatre’s parent/teacher organization, which helps pay for certain school programs and equipment not provided for by government funding. The HSC works hard to support the rich experiences we provide for our children, both through fundraising and volunteer efforts!
Father-Daughter Dance This is a special tradition for daughters and their parent! It takes place on Friday evening in early February and there is a different theme each year. There will be pictures, food, and fun for all! All our welcome!Front Office - (408) 377-5480 ext. 102 is the number for the front office. Mrs. Perry is the school secretary, Mrs. Froese is the administrative assistant, and Mrs. Gould is our health clerk. If your child will be absent, call (408) 377-5480 ext. 100. If your child will be absent more than five days, an independent study packet may be requested.
Fundraising The HSC fundraises year round. We do so responsibly, in a way that maximizes the benefit to our children. Giving Campaign, Gift Wrap, Starlight Auction, Walk-a-thon are some of our main fundraisers. Our goal is to raise over $100,000 each year.
Garden (Living Lab) The Garden team work to provide opportunities for students to plant, observe, harvest, do tastings, be creative and be living-lab scientist for the day. Volunteers are needed for classroom buddies and various projects throughout the year.Giving Campaign At the start of the school families are asked to consider donating $300 for each child attending Fammatre directly to our Giving Campaign. Direct donations are eligible for a tax deduction, and many companies will match your donation!
Hot Lunch Parents can register and contribute money to students lunch account with through EZ Pay. You are also welcome to drop off a check to the front office written out to Cambrian SD. Make sure that your child’s name is on the envelope or written in the “for” line on the check.HSC Meetings are held usually the 1st Monday of the month at 7:00. They usually last one hour and free childcare is provided. This is a great way to connect with other parents and stay informed!
Gift Wrap Fundraiser provides high quality products and their catalog is also full of great holiday gift ideas. Almost half of every dollar spent on products goes to the Fammatre Home and School Club. You and your extended family, coworkers and neighbors can shop for holiday gift-wrap and gifts and feel good about supporting our school at the same time.
Library – This is a year round program where students can come and look at books. Starting in 1st grade they may check them out. Parents can sign up for class helper to read to the class and help with check out.
Mileage Club All students have an opportunity to run or walk laps with their classes. Students can earn little feet for the necklace. This is just one way that we encourage fitness at Fammatre!
Monster Boogie Bash is a community event in October where the students and their families can come in costume for an evening of fun! This fun includes a haunted house, trick or treat alley, games, and food. Volunteers are needed for this event!Mother-Son Dance Party This is a special tradition for sons and their parent! It takes place on a Friday evening at the beginning of March and there is a different theme each year. There will be pictures, food, and fun for all! All our welcome!
Newsletters – Fammatre newsletter is sent home each week via School Messenger on Wednesdays. This has important information about Fammatre from Mrs. MacFarland and the HSC.
Project Cornerstone is a year round social education program for students K-5th grade. Students learn skills to relate to one another and build inner confidence. Volunteers read stories, lead classroom discussions in monthly ready-made lessons.
Room Parent A class parent or two who, throughout the school year communicate activities and events (information aquired from HSC monthly meetings), back to their class parents, and help the teacher as needed with special events.
Scholastic Book Fair is held in November for a weeklong event. Students can review and purchase book titles. Volunteers advertise, set-up displays, help students with book choices and work register. A second book fair is held at the end of the year where students can buy one book and get one for 50% off just in time for summer!
School Messenger is a district network that will send out information through the district and Fammatre. If you are not receiving the weekly newsletter, please check with the office to make sure your email address is correct.
Science Fair is a fun way for students individually or with a partner do a science project and present it on a board. It is optional for Tk-4th grade and required for 5th grade. The Projects are displayed for a fun evening!
Spirit Days Every Friday is spirit day at Fammatre. Students wear any Fammatre shirt including walk-a-thon shirts or wear our school colors green and black. We have a variety of Fammatre spirit wear available to purchase and order.
Starlight Auction This is our annual Fammatre auction. This is fun adult only event off site. Tickets include the venue and appetizers. The evening includes a silent auction and a live auction.
Teacher Appreciation Luncheons Each month a different grade level will sponsor a lunch for the teachers and staff. Room parents for the grade level will coordinate the classes to help participate in this.
Teacher Appreciation Week is an annual event where we shower the staff and teachers every day for a week. Students will be encouraged to participate with notes, flowers, and small treats. We ask volunteers to help that week by helping cover yard duty and bringing in some treats for teachers.
Volunteer Sign-in We love volunteers! If you are planning to be on campus for volunteer work, please go to the front office, sign-in and wear a visitor badge while on campus. Sign out when you leave and return the badge. This is just one piece to helping keep our students and our volunteers safe. Thank you!!
Walk-a-thon Our Spring fundraiser is a lot of fun for our kids and families! There is much more than walking: raffles, games and food will all be part of the celebration!
Walk 'n Roll A new program sponsored by the City of San Jose. The program encourages students to walk, or ride their bikes to school and together with the city a continued emphasis is placed on working together to create safe routes, and healthy lifestyles.
