6TH GRADE PRINT MAKING
Students practiced the exciting medium of printmaking using styrofoam plates, ink, brayers, and barens. They engraved their design using a variety of lines, incorporating an animal, creature, or critter as the focal point. Each student created a minimum of 6 prints. Students really enjoyed this process because each print came out a little different. This was a popular project, as there were a dozen or so students who willingly came after school to continue printmaking. Fantastic job!
Students chose two images that are related, and employ a line of symmetry. Using patterns and textures from wall paper magazines, and a mirror, students created these intriguing artworks.
ABSTRACT TO CONCRETE
This was a super fun project! Students explored creating an abstract design using india ink and gravity! Then, students strategically colored in shapes to create a concrete image using the lines and shapes from the india ink.
SIMULATED TEXTURE LANDSCAPES
Students practiced making value scales using different patterns. Then, students sketched out simple landscapes, some used their own pictures, and others used the pictures provided. Each shape was filled with a pattern that replicated the light or dark shade. Students also incorporated a smooth gradient using a pattern. IMPRESSIVE!
