  • PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE:

    Dear Sartorette Families,

Please see the email from Dr. Andrews on 3/16/20 at approx. 5:45PM with the subject line EDITION 4: Covid-19 Update from Cambrian School District.

I’m so proud of our Sartorette School community! In such little time, our team of teachers, staff, and parents rallied together to give students and families access to what they need to continue their education during the school closure and sudden shelter in place. Professional, collaborative, organized, and calm. What a dedicated team!

    No Student Work Pickup

Due to the three week mandatory shelter in place for Santa Clara County that starts tonight, our fabulous Home & School Club leadership loaded all the materials teachers worked so hard and so quickly to assemble for students to work on these first few days (and in some cases for the next three weeks) of school closure/shelter in place. All grade level work will be loaded by approximately noon tomorrow. Here’s the link to the Sartorette Optional Homework Packets:  https://www.cambriansd.org/Page/2279

Teachers will also be contacting you regularly via email and/or phone on an ongoing basis to provide optional materials for your child.

    Food Pick Up for Children

All children 18 years of age and younger may receive free breakfast and lunch daily Monday through Friday from 11- 1 PM. A drive-up food pickup service will be available starting Tuesday, March 17th at Price Middle School, 2650 New Jersey Avenue, San Jose, CA 95124. Families can pick up food between 11-1 PM that includes lunch for that day and a breakfast for the following day. No identification or proof of school enrollment is required, but your child(ren) must be present. For example, if you are asking for 3 bags, three children need to be in the car. Families will not need to enter the school building for pick-up.

    Free Internet Service, If Needed

If you need access to a wireless network, consider the following options: Comcast free Wi-Fi hotspots called xfinitywifi (https://wifi.xfinity.com/faq.php). You may also qualify for 60 days of complimentary Internet Essentials service from Comcast. Please see https://www.internetessentials.com for more information.

    Communicating with Teachers & Staff

During this time, all teachers are encouraged to communicate and assist their students academically as needed. This includes communicating with students via email, Google classroom, and contacting students via phone. Parents can reach out to their child’s teacher via email if you have questions regarding optional work. All teachers should be available by email during regularly scheduled hours of school of 8AM to 3:30PM.

Please do not come to Sartorette’s campus. All necessary information will be shared with you via email, text, and or phone.

    Student Learning

Children are looking to all of us as role models. Please take the time to read and play games with your children. Share your love of learning and help instill it in them. While we recommend using teacher provided materials that will be sent to you online, and the optional materials provided by our school district (by grade level), also get creative in ways that are not always using technology and help children explore outdoors in a manner that’s consistent with public safety and shelter in place guidelines. Although students spend six hours in school each day, it’s not six solid hours of academics. There are many breaks throughout the day and the learning goes beyond reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. Please don’t expect your child to spend six hours a day on academics. And please be vigilant of the sites your children are using while online to make sure they’re appropriate.

    Be safe

    Be responsible

    Be respectful

We really are in this together, and teachers and staff throughout our district are still working to serve our students and families. Reach out to us. Not only are we SUPERSTARS, but WE ARE CAMBRIAN.

    Warmest regards,

    Debbie Stein

    Principal
