Mrs. Kochiyama

Hi!

My name is Angela Kochiyama and I love teaching at Price each and every day! This is my 5th year at Price and my 13th year in the profession. The first 8 years of my career were spent teaching at Campbell Middle School. I have taught every grade level of math (5th- 8th), along with 5th & 6th grade Language Arts and Social Studies. I have taught 7th & 8th grade math at Price for the last 4 years. Price's reputation met and exceeded all my expectations and I look forward to another awesome year!

My Education:

I earned my masters degree in middle school education with emphasis in 6 – 8 mathematics.  I graduated from Humboldt State University with a degree in Elementary Education with minors in Child Development, Business, and Leadership.  HSU is also where I earned my first credential in teaching (multiple subjects).  I earned my second credential after my master’s degree, which is a single subject mathematics credential.

Why am I a teacher?

There are many things I love about teaching.  One thing that I love is the content.  I really enjoy math and all things that it encompasses. What is the main aspect of teaching that I love?  I love building relationships with students and getting to know them on a nonacademic level.  Teaching is not only about the academics but the social aspects as well.

I love teaching because I am able to build relationship with my students that are not just about academics, but about their lives outside of school.

My Life:
On a personal note, my family and I have had some milestones this summer.  My husband and I just celebrated our 14 year wedding anniversary!  We have 2 children.  My oldest son, Mason, just turned 9 on July 22 and my youngest son, Austin, will be turned 6 August 22!  Family is really important to me and I love spending time with them. They both are at Fammatre this year Mason is a 3rd grader and Austin is in Kindergarden.  If you don't run into us there, then you will probably run into us at the baseball field.
