  • Dear Sartorette Families,

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! I hope this summer was filled with everything you wanted to get out of spending quality time with family and friends. Our Sartorette staff has already been hard at work preparing this new school year of learning and growing for your children.

Although I am Sartorette’s new interim principal, I am no stranger to Cambrian. I have been a parent in the district, and have had the pleasure of teaching many former Sartorette students over the course of my 14 years as an educator in the Cambrian School District, both at Ida Price Middle School and Steindorf STEAM Magnet School. Throughout all those years, Sartorette graduates and parents have shared their heartwarming memories with me, lasting impressions which makes me all the more honored and excited to be working with such a warm and supportive school community.

Your child’s first day of school is Wednesday, August 14th. The school day for all students begins at 8:30 a.m. All TK/Kindergarten students have an early dismissal of 12:00 p.m from August 14th-September 6th. Sept. 9th begins full day for TK/K, dismissal is 2:10pm.

Extended daycare is available through the ROCK on campus - please contact the Camden Community Center for more information about the ROCK program at 408-559-8553. Class lists will be posted on Sartorette’s webpage and in front of the Sartorette office at 6 p.m. on Monday, August 12th. Students will be identified on the class list by his/her student number.

Please keep in mind that during the first two weeks of school our enrollment is in a transition period, and there may be changes to class assignments as student enrollment stabilizes. If changes are necessary, we will do our very best to take into consideration the needs of individual students. No matter who your child is placed with this year, you can be assured that they will have a teacher who will provide them with an excellent educational experience and many opportunities to extend their learning based on individual abilities, interests, and achievement.

I hope every one of you will attend our Back-To-School Night on Wednesday, September 4th, beginning at 6:30 p.m. This is a very important opportunity to meet your child’s teacher and continue to build the vital home-school partnership that drives student success. More information regarding Back to School Night will be in subsequent newsletters.

Please join us if you can! I am looking forward to a great year together as we bring out the best in students!

    Warmest regards,

    Debbie Stein Debbie Stein

School Announcements

  • California School Dashboard Updates

You may know that in March 2018, the California Department of Education (CDE) released a new website designed to help communities across the state access important information about K–12 districts and schools. Called the California School Dashboard, the site features reports on multiple measures of school success, including test scores, graduation rates, English learner progress and suspension rates. The Dashboard is part of California's new school accountability system based on 2013's Local Control Funding Formula. New student achievement data from Spring 2017 will be available this Thursday, according to the CDE.

As you may know, the majority of our schools are structured as “dependent charter schools,” which allows us to welcome students from throughout our county, not just our district boundaries. The Dashboard currently lists all charter schools as separate entities, whether they are affiliated with a district or not. Complete aggregated data is not available for our district, and parents may need to follow an extra step to find their child's school. Click here to learn more and follow the instructions to find the data for your school.
