Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP)

As part of the Local Control Funding Formula, school districts, county offices of education, and charter schools are required to develop, adopt, and annually update a three-year Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). The LCAP describes how the district will spend the funds and its goals for improving student outcomes.

  • Cambrian Unplugs

Thank you to the dozens of families who took the #TechFreeTime Weekend Challenge! Families pledged to stay off their gadgets this weekend; the most common pledge, at 16% of respondents, was for 8 hours of screen-free time, while six families pledged to stay tech-free for the entire holiday weekend! How did they spend their time? 90 percent of respondents chose to play outside, followed by 71% who played board or card games together and 69% who spent that time reading a book. Thanks again to the Steindorf 4th graders who developed the challenge for their PBL assignments: Michaela, Amber, Raaey, Devin, Sathvik, Hazen, Parker, Aidan, and Ilan!

  • Sartorette and SJFD Team Up to Help Children in Need

Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night could keep these pint-sized do-gooders from visiting SJFD Station #9 today to help with the fire department's toy drive! Sartorette students have been collecting toys for children in need for two weeks, and today stopped by the station to complete their donations! The visit was made complete with hot chocolate and a tour of a real live fire engine! Thank you to the firefighters, parent volunteers, staff and generous students who made today a success!

  • Superintendent and Trustees Represent Cambrian at CSBA Conference

Last week, Superintendent Dr. Andrews and the Board of Trustees attended the annual California School Boards Association Conference, along with over 1,000 educational leaders from across the state who gather to discuss issues facing public education. The event gave them the opportunity to learn about the state budget and its fiscal impact on schools, new legislation, and ways to improve equity and access for all students. The conference is a valuable opportunity for our district leaders to explore ways to further support students, staff and the entire district community.

  • Schools and Families Supporting Cambrian Writers Together

Thanks to the 130 parents who came to our Writing Workshop Parent Night on Dec. 7! Attendees had the opportunity to learn about the processes Cambrian teachers are using to deliver individualized writing feedback to students, as well as how families can help their children grow as writers at home! • Students Assist With Staff Learning

Cambrian's Teachers on Special Assignment Chau Chieng and Michelle Ignacio work with staff throughout the year to develop Guided Language Acquisition by Design (GLAD) teaching strategies, and last week they had some very special helpers-- Ms. Bacon's fifth grade students! Eleven teachers spent four days observing an Ecosystems unit being taught by a certified GLAD trainer, while being coached through the process at the same time. In the afternoon, staff debriefed together about what they observed and then created their own units based on what they had learned. Thanks to Ms. Bacon and her students for helping staff continue to improve their craft!

  • Happy 60th Birthday, Farnham!

Today Farnham students, staff and families celebrated the 60th anniversary of the school's founding in 1956. Members of the Farnham family were present, and the festivities included 50s-style costumes, the unveiling of some commemorative artifacts and an aerial photo of the student body in the shape of a giant 60. Congrats Farnham-- here's to another 60 wonderful years!

  • Thank you, Trustee Sneed!

Last night, district staff and the Board of Trustees held a recognition ceremony for Trustee Jeneva Sneed, who is retiring after serving on the board for four years and 20 years of teaching third grade at Bagby.
