Recess Relay for Life
We have new equipment on the playground! Last year,Bagby’s Recess Relay for Life was the top recess fundraiser for American Cancer Society’s Cambrian Relay for Life! We were awarded a $1000 grant from Xilinx.
A committee of students from last year’s walkers researched how best to use the money and decided on ball pumps, balls and hula hoops to increase engagement in healthy play at recess and lunch. This week marks the kick-off for the Cambrian Relay for Life which is being held April 25-26 at our own Price Middle School!
We’d love to have you join us for the walk. If you cannot walk, consider supporting a walker, or just come by and cheer for us!

We WALK N' ROLL at Bagby
Bagby is proud to have worked with the City of San Jose to develop the Walk N'Roll Program, which is now at many schools across the city. This program supports students and parents walking into school by parking at least 4 blocks away from Bagby. We ask that families form walking buses or carpools from neighborhoods. Parking and access to Bagby is very limited, and Walk N' Roll is the BEST way to get your child here safely.
Purpose of the program:
- To decrease traffic congestion around the school
- To enhance student safety
- To encourage and enhance health
- To create safer walking and bicycling routes to school
- To improve air quality around schools
- To gain community support for pedestrian safety
- To promote walking and bicycling to school in our community
A walking school bus is a group of children walking to school with one or more adults. If that sounds simple, it is, and that’s part of the beauty of the walking school bus. It can be as informal as two families taking turns walking their children to school to as structured as a route with meeting points, a timetable and a regularly rotated schedule of trained volunteers.
Carpools consist of 3 or more students, vans for daycare centers, or students with disabilities. The loop closest to Leigh is for Car Pools ONLY between 8:00 and 8:15, including transportation for students with disabilities that qualify for "handicapped" designation. Anyone may use the loop after 8:15 for drop off.
